Ive just spent 4 luscious days in the Algarve and yes there were English bars offering the using burgers and chips and beer but if you look a little harder there is a wide and wonderful selections of fresh fish, meat and vegetables available at the local supermarkets and outdoor markets and many restaurants and bars offer healthy low fat meals and green smoothies..
If your going to drink wine and beer (which lets face it your are..) just make sure to follow each drink with a bottle of mineral water, as this will help keep you hydrated and prevent ghastly hangovers, and keep your daily food intake sensible with protein, lots of salad and vegetables and good fats.. we all love and need vitamin D but using sunscreen is the most important rule before stepping out.. many problems stem from forgetting this important step.!
Secondly, you may not fancy hitting the gym in your week or two of relaxation but holidays are for exploring and visiting the local towns, beaches and historical places can keep you busy for hours!.. If you can swim in the sea, do it! the sea is an incredible healing and holistic therapy!.. also many of these towns have steep flights of stairs, again great cardio!
I also took with me the correct daily amount of each supplement as it is is also very important to stick with your usual daily health plan, no excuses!
Have a great holiday!!
Health and happiness has always been a goal and a priority in my life. An important factor has been the discovery of holistic therapies and alternative medicines. It has given me an acute awareness and understanding of the basic needs required to thrive and live a full and happy life.
